Ursula on Watch Duty

Ursula is sitting cross-legged on the floor next to the stairs leading to her grandparents' basement. Grandma Agnes is walking away from her and tells Ursula, "OK, sit here and draw while we play cards, and if any of our husbands come up those stairs, you scream 'Ow! Valerie bit me!" Annoyed, Ursula says, "Ugh... and then I get ten dollars, right?" Agnes retorts, "Five dollars." One of her bridge buddies yells from the kitchen table, "C'mon Agnes, it's betting time!"

Grandma Agnes needs that extra five bucks for gambling… or maybe she’s just cheap.

In any case, Agnes isn’t going to let babysitting get in the way of her bridge game.
