Escaped Tigers

Noah reassures Ursula, only to worry that Ursula might be right.
For some reason, Noah just can’t sleep well when camping.

The Thorsens’ camping week in the B.C. interior continues, and Ursula has some wild ideas about some of the unfamiliar noises at night.

(Fun fact: it’s also illegal to keep tigers in Washington state, but Noah apparently doesn’t keep up with these things and it seems they did grandfather in a few captive tigers that were already there.)

Comic description

In case of broken image links or accessibility issues with today’s cartoon, here’s the gist of today’s cartoon:

The Thorsens are asleep in their tents when a frantic Ursula wakes Noah up. She tells him, “Daddy! I heard a tiger!”

Noah is a little groggy but reassures her, “There’s no tigers here, honey. This is Canada, tigers live in Asia.”

Ursula is unconvinced and fearfully says, “How can you be so sure? Maybe the tiger escaped captivity and hides out in these woods to feast on campers!”

Noah smiles and explains, “It’s illegal to keep tigers here in B.C. Only campers back east have to worry about escaped tigers. Get some sleep.”

Ursula goes back to sleep (and Ruth has slept through the whole incident). Noah, however, is now wide awake and worried, thinking, “But… if a tiger escaped from the Calgary Zoo & the average tiger can walk 20 miles a night… wait… no… there could be tigers in Washington state and here in Osoyoos it’s just 3 miles from the border…”
