Where I live there are stretches of highway requiring snow tires (or the M+S all-seasons) as of October 1 every year… even if we have an autumn heat wave like this year and it’s still 25C on October 1.
But Ruth is a stickler for following the rules, no matter how dumb or unenforced they may be. And Noah is a stickler for avoiding frosty receptions in the bedrooms… while also having no clue how to change a tire, as we’ve already established.

Comic text
In case of broken image links or accessibility issues with today’s cartoon, here’s the gist of the comic:
Noah and Glen are standing in the yard in front of Noah’s car. Glen rolls his eyes and tells Noah, “You don’t need snow tires, Thorsen.” Noah shrugs and tells him, “Ruth insists.” Glen points out that, “You’ve got those M+S all-seasons, it’s fine.” Noah agrees, saying, “I know,” but adds, “Ruth wants the snow tires on by tomorrow.”
Glen is getting annoyed and asks, “When are you gonna tell Ruth she doesn’t know what she’s talking about?” Also annoyed, Noah replies, “When I get sick of sleeping in the big warm bed upstairs.” Glen waves his hand and tell Noah, “The first frost isn’t for another 3 weeks, let alone snow!” Noah growls, “If the cars don’t have snow tires by morning, it’ll be plenty frosty upstairs.”
