Ruth is watching Adam make a bobbin lace cuff for his girlfriend, instructing him as he goes: “Right, so now you cross the middle two… and twist the outside ones… then cross the middle again… very good, Adam, you’re really getting the hang of it!” Adam mumbles, “mmmhmmm…” and Ruth says, “I don’t know why Ursula doesn’t want to learn bobbin lace, isn’t it fun?” Adam thinks, “More fun than playing in Dad’s lame tribute bands, sure,” but instead says, “Yep. Stacey’s never gonna believe I made her this lace cuff myself.”
