We Need to Talk

Noah pulls Ursula aside to talk about morals and his mother's lack thereof, but Ursula misunderstands and ends up telling on herself.
Good thing Noah’s not listening anymore than Ursula is.

Ursula and Noah need to talk, but more importantly, they ought to actually listen, too.

Comic text

In case of broken image links or accessibility issues with today’s cartoon, here’s the gist of the comic:

Ursula is sitting on the floor in front of the TV, watching cartoons. Noah comes up behind her and says, “Ursula, we need to talk.” Ursula asks, “Can it wait til after cartoons?” He replies, “No,” and Ursula groans. Noah sits down with Ursula and puts his arm around her shoulder, saying, “You know that sometimes good people do bad things, right?” (Referring to his mother’s gator poaching operation.) Ursula snarls and is quick to tell him, “I didn’t do anything.”

Noah looks up, dismayed, and continues: “But it doesn’t make us love them any less.” Figuring her teacher had ratted her out, Ursula rolls her eyes and says, “Look, I dunno what Miss Fardemar told you, but I did my math worksheet.”

Off in his own little world, Noah sticks to the script and adds, “Love the sinner, hate the sin, Ursula.” Ursula figures Miss Fardemar has told Noah something worse than just undone assignments and says, “There is no proof that I threw rocks at Billy, but if I did, he had it coming.”
