Ruth and her mom, Agnes, sit at a patio set close to the poolside as Ursula sits on the edge of the pool and kicks water into Noah’s face.
Agnes says to Ruth, “Still no job, huh?”
Ruth replies, “Noah’s a stay-at-home dad, Mom.”
Agnes scowls and repeats, “Still no job, huh?”
Ruth replies, “Mom, you know money’s no issue for us. Besides, Noah sings in 3 bands and helps charities with fundraising.”
Still unappeased, Agnes again repeats, “Still no job, huh?”
Ruth yells “Mom!”
Agnes continues, “Sweetie, remember that nice boy Chad with the MBA?”
Scowling, Ruth retorts, “I remember Chad getting drunk and tattooing some other chick’s name on his chest.”
Unfazed, Agnes grins and says, “That’s nice, dear. His mother tells me he’s getting divorced soon. Make yourself available.”
